TIME Pro Cycling 2008
The TIME Factory Development Team enjoyed a successful 2007 season, but for 2008, the team is hoping for more. That’s why the team will evolve from a 6-rider elite amateur squad into a 12-rider UCI Continental team. The TIME Factory Development Team has been renamed for the occasion- TIME Pro Cycling. The focus of the team remains the same, teaching the sport of cycling to young riders, and bringing them to the next level.
The management team of James Bennett, Erik Saunders and Pat Raines remain committed to the original concept of providing an opportunity that didn’t exist previously. “When we went into forming this team last year we wanted to do something completely new. Looking back on all the things that happened in each of our careers the theme seemed to be lack of guidance and mentorship, and plain old indifference to development. It was important to us that we do the team for the guys who are right in that spot where they need a little guidance to be great” says team Director Erik Saunders. In the Team’s first year, with previously unknown riders, their new way of working proved fruitful. The Team earned 2 medals at the U23 National Road Race Championships, one medal in the 17-18 National Criterium Championships, two NRC top ten finishes, scored a host of regional wins and graduated two riders on to bigger programs (Eric Bennett to Team Successful Living, and Chris Monteleone to the US National Team)
To provide greater guidance and on the bike leadership in 2008, three experienced veterans have been brought in to pass their knowledge along to the team’s young riders. The goals are to build on previous success and continue to move riders upward in the ranks, making TIME Pro Cycling the “Go-To” talent pool for larger pro teams looking to fill their ranks with young riders. The competitive focus will hinge on U23 Nationals, the Tour of Pennsylvania, the USA Crits Series, and selected other events.
